We accept ages 3 and up. Must be fully potty trained (no accidents).
When you start swimming lessons it all depends on time and resources. The fastest rate of progression is between 3-5 years old. Learning to float could take about three lessons for a three-year-old if they are not fearful of the water. The speed of learning also depends on the child's personality, skills and abilities ... it also depends on how often they get to practice swimming outside of swim lessons.
Research shows anyone taking lessons for the first time over the age of five progresses slower because they have already formed their ideas about the water and swimming. They must unlearn and then learn.
Yes! Parents are allowed to stay and watch in the chairs around the pool or on my back porch; there is shade. We love having parents watch their swimmer's class to allow them to observe what their swimmer can and cannot do. This also gives them the terminology, skill performance and ideas as to what needs to be practiced for success. Parents do NOT swim with their child(ren)
If siblings are also watching, they need to sit quietly and not be a distraction from our lessons. If they get fussy or loud, they will need to leave. They may not run around. They may NOT get in the pool. They will have to sit.
Parents are asked to leave (out of sight) if a child is not cooperating or fussing (this typically applies to younger first-time swimmers and tapers off with each lesson).
Please no food or drinks (only WATER) on my pool & patio areas.
• A Swimsuit - Already on
• A Water bottle - Already full
• Sunscreen - Applied 20-30 minutes prior to class to absorb into your skin so it doesn't wash off or sting your eyes.
• 2 Towels - One for when you get out & one to keep your car dry.
• A Snack – Swimming makes you SO hungry. Have a snack in the car ready.
• Ear Drops* - To use after swimming lessons prevent swimmer’s ear (*optional)
• Googles that do NOT cover the nose
The swimming lessons are 5 consecutive days for 45 minutes each. $300 for the first child, $100 for siblings or friends. We give special certificates & lollipops at the end of our week together during our pool party with noodle races. Our younger students also get a sticker at the end of each lesson.
No! I am sorry.
I do have a child camp-potty behind a small privacy screen & wipes available.
Unfortunately, the closest restroom from my pool requires a person to walk through my main living room and into the hallway. Because of this, I ask everyone to prepare accordingly. CVS is 13 minutes away.
Please EXIT after your lesson. Lessons are over on time, and it will be time for you to exit and leave. My driveway will be full of cars, so I need everyone exiting to allow parking for the next group. Please visit with friends elsewhere so our parking is available. The nearest park is behind Sonic in Melissa, Tx. Feel free to meet there for continued fun.
When you arrive, park on my driveway, pulling all the way in or park in the street. Come through the gate on the side nearest my garage. Do not enter the pool until I call for your lesson at the start time. Wait on the porch or the seating area. The previous class will not have moved their cars if you arrive too early. Plan to park no earlier than ten minutes before class.
The largest class size will be 4 students. Two swim instructors are in the pool at all times with the students.
Lessons are non-refundable unless there is someone on the waitlist who wants to take over your time slots.
If we have rain/thunder/lighting and I cancel classes, then you are welcome to come on our makeup day. But class sizes may be larger on that day.
Even if your children are at different swim levels, our classes are designed to accommodate multiple levels within the same class. We have two instructors in each class, so your children will still receive individualized instruction.
